เจาะลึกเข้าไปในประเทศญี่ปุ่น บนเกาะชิโกกุ ในเมืองชนบท ชายคนหนึ่งเบื่อกับความหลักแหลมของตัวเอง เขาคือ โคสุเกะ (ยูสุเกะ ซานต้ามาเรีย) วัย 31 ผู้ปีเบื่อบ้านเกิดของเขาซึ่งไม่มีอะไรเกิดขึ้น เพียงชั่วอึดใจเดียวเขาก็ออกเดินทางไปยังเมืองนิวยอร์กด้วยความฝันอันยิ่งใหญ่
6 เดือนต่อมา เขาต้องกระเสือกกระสนกลับบ้านด้วยตวามพ่ายแพ้ และเต็มไปด้วยหนี้สิน แต่สิ่งที่เขารับรู้ก็คือยังมีคนที่รอคอยเขา ได้แก่ เพื่อนเก่า น้องสาว พ่อที่รู้สึกไม่พอใจ และก๋วยเตี่ยวหนึ่งชาม ก๋วยเตี๋ยวที่ชื่อว่า อูด้ง ในเมื่อเมืองนี้เป็นผู้ผลิตอูด้ง ยังชีพด้วยอูด้ง และมีชื่อเสียงไปทั่วประเทศเพราะอูด้ง แม้กระทั่งชื่อเมืองยังให้ยืมชื่อกับอูด้งชนิดพิเศษที่ชื่อ ซานูกิ อูด้ง อีกด้วย
เป็นเพราะการที่เมืองมุ่งความสนใจแต่อูด้งอย่างบ้าคลั่งนี้เอง จึงเป็นการขับดันให้โคสุเกะจากไป จนกระทั่งเมื่อเขาเดินทางกลับมาอย่างไม่เป็นท่านี่เอง จึงทำให้เขาได้เรียนรู้ว่าเขาและโลกอิสระที่เหลือนี้ กำลังจะได้พบกับความน่าอัศจรรย์ของอาหารอันโอชะแห่งท้องถิ่นนี้อีกครั้ง
Kosuke (Yusuke Santamaria) comes to hate small town life and moves to New York after a fight with his father. However, he meets frustration after frustration, and on the verge of ruin from loans decides to return back to his small town.
But when he returns, he finds nothing has changed, his sister still worries about him, his father is still pounding away at noodles, his friends are the same, and there's still a bowl of udon waiting for him when he gets home. But once Kosuke learns to love udon, he finds a will and a way of his own!

- The Clock - In the year of 1940, the song Gloomy Sunday was known as the suicide song as many suicides recorded were related to it. Listening to this song has led to a French lady committing suicide as well after the death of her boyfriend, a clock engineer at that time. Her soul was not at peace and it returned with the purpose of fulfilling the desires of other victims of depression. Cheata, a girl living with her father and stepmother after her biological mother, Chanda, left the family, is suffering from depression. Every day she suffers mental and physical abuses from her stepmother. Together with her longing for her true mother, this had led Cheata to slip deeper and deeper into depression.
