Makino Tsukushi (Mao Inoue), a working-class girl, attends an elite school called Eitoku Academy. She is surrounded by all the rich kids, including the Flower Four (F4). The F4 leader and son of the wealthiest family in Japan, Tsukasa Doumyouji (Jun Matsumoto), takes an interest in Tsukushi, because she is the only girl who doesn't fawn over him.

Hanazawa Rui (Shun Oguri), Tsukasa's best friend, becomes Tsukushi's first serious romantic interest. He is a quiet and cold guy. The other two members of the F4 are Akira Mimasaka (Tsuyoshi Abe), the laid-back peacemaker of the group, and Soujiroh Nishikado (Shota Matsuda), an unrepentant playboy.

Finally Tsukushi and Tsukasa become lovers. They arrange a press conference to announce their wedding date. Tsukasa's mother presents Tsukushi with a family heirloom: a tiara called Smile of Venus. When the tiara is stolen by a mysterious man in black and the crime is subsequently covered up, Tsukasa takes Tsukushi on a wild adventure around the world to retrieve it.
