Ten years ago, someone once told me, ”This will never happen in Thailand.“
Back then, a lot of people believed that. Because what many see as a basic human right took more than a decade of courage, persistence, and determination for so many others to achieve.
Over the years, @otechab and I have been fortunate to play a small part in supporting marriage equality in Thailand. We’ve witnessed hope and heartbreak, rejection and resilience, and countless people who kept moving forward—even when they had no idea if that day would ever come.
Then, on January 23, 2025, marriage equality officially became law in Thailand.
Today, I‘m deeply honored to have had the opportunity to speak on stage about something I’ve believed in for so long.
The law has changed... but the journey is far from over.
Our next goal is Bangkok WorldPride 2030.
For some, it may simply be a celebration. But to me, it‘s an opportunity for Thailand to show the world that diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and that this is a place where everyone is welcomed —without having to hide who they are or who they love.
This October will be a defining moment as Thailand bids to host WorldPride 2030. I’d like to invite everyone to help spread the word. Talk about it. Share this story. Every conversation and every show of support helps the world see that Thailand is ready.
I‘d also like to send my heartfelt support to everyone working tirelessly behind the scenes—from the @bangkokpride.official teamand TCEB to our government agencies, private sector partners, and the many people who have helped move this mission forward.
Thank you for never giving up.
From the day we stood together to fight for marriage equality... to today, as we continue working toward bringing Bangkok WorldPride 2030 to Thailand.
This has never been about one community alone.
