Alex, a counterculture idealist, hopes to prevent the next world leader summit from taking place, with assistance from his computer whiz friend Fred. They decide to blackmail the political authorities and major banks, as well as the event's organizers and sponsors, by threatening to install a computer virus which will interfere with the financial transaction systems at the Interbank Clearing Corporation if the summit proceeds.

Alex's complete dedication to the cause makes his girlfriend threaten to leave him. On the day the virus installation was to take place, Alex suffers a car accident. When he regains consciousness in the hospital, he learn that he has been in a coma for two days and he can't remember what anything about the day of accident. Increasingly perturbed, he sets out to make sense of what happened and, with the help of a couple of doctors, he agrees to try out a new therapy to regain his memory.

But the truth he discovers proves to be far more complicated than he could ever have imagined. Fred has disappeared, and the more he delves into his memories, the more reality and imagination become confused, making the task more difficult.
