Award-winning documentary filmmaker Wayne Coles-Janess managed to gain unrestricted and unsupervised access to Baghdad in the four weeks preceding the US led invasion. He provides an intimate insight into the lives of ordinary people during Saddam's regime as they prepare for the rapidly approaching war.

Capturing the mood and emotions of a city, the film follows a professor of Arabic poetry, an Imam, an Olympic wrestling coach, and a shoe cobbler in their daily lives and homes, watching their demeanor change as they face the realities of war and the devastating effects of extensive bombings on the lives of civilians.

As the war raged, despite numerous arrests by the Iraqi government, the production continued to film the kind of life in Baghdad which has not been seen in the mainstream media. Months later, with a new government in place, Coles-Janess returned, taking audiences back to Iraq, exposing the changes in the lives of several characters and the Iraqi society living with their new freedom.

This documentary has been described as a humane and profoundly authentic portrayal of the struggles of the people of Iraq living through a tumultuous war with its disastrous consequences.
