  • When Adam (Ulrich Thomsen), a recently paroled convict, neo-Nazi, and surly atheist, meets Ivan (Mads Mikkelsen), the do good pastor of a country church where he has been assigned to do community service, the stage is set for an explosion and some very black comedy. Blind rage meets blind faith, so whenever Adam throws a punch, Ivan turns the other cheek.

    The more the pastor demonstrates optimism and forgiveness, the more determined Adam becomes to demolish both the apple tree and Ivan's dream of redemption. When Adam's skinhead friends suddenly turn up at the church, Ivan must confront a larger world of racism, illegal immigration, crime and corporate greed, and Adam must take responsibility for the violent results.
