เรื่องราวเกิดขึ้นในปี 1959 คือ 4 เดือนถัดมาจากภาคก่อน ชีวิตของผู้คนในถนนสายที่ 3 ของโตเกียวกลุ่มเดิมยังคงดำเนินไป ริวโนะสุเกะ (ฮิเดทากะ โยชิโอกะ) นักเขียนไส้แห้งตั้งหน้าตั้งตาเขียนนิยายเพื่อชิงรางวัลใหญ่ เพื่อพิสูจน์ให้เห็นว่าเขาสามารถเลี้ยง จุนโนะสุเกะ เด็กที่ ฮิโรมิ (โคยูกิ) สาวบาร์ที่เขารักฝากมาได้ ส่วนครอบครัว ซูซูกิ เจ้าของร้านซ่อมยานยนต์ ก็ต้องรับการมาเยือนของญาติมีฐานะแต่ตกอับ ซึ่งพาลูกสาวช่างเอาแต่ใจมาฝากให้ดูแล แล้วเธอก็กลายเป็นสาวน้อยขวัญใจลูกชายของครอบครัวซูซูกิขึ้นมา
Young tyke Junnosuke (Kenta Suga) continues to live with Chagawa since bargirl Hiromi (Koyuki) deposited him with the writer last time around. Chagawa is determined to become a serious writer, win Hiromi's heart and create a family with her and the adopted kid.
Meanwhile, Hiromi is forlorn because Chagawa never visits and her new career as an exotic dancer (never shown onscreen) invites undesirable admirers. Back at the auto shop, the Suzukis play host to a newcomer: spoiled 7-year-old girl Mika (Ayame Koike), a distant relative. Tensions run highest between her and the Suzukis' territorial 7-year-old son Ippei (Kazuki Koshimizu).
Distaff auto mechanic Mutsuko (Maki Horikita), whose apprenticeship with Suzuki Sr. was more central in first pic, is now being romanced by financially troubled culinary student Takeo (Yosuke Asari).

- The Clock - In the year of 1940, the song Gloomy Sunday was known as the suicide song as many suicides recorded were related to it. Listening to this song has led to a French lady committing suicide as well after the death of her boyfriend, a clock engineer at that time. Her soul was not at peace and it returned with the purpose of fulfilling the desires of other victims of depression. Cheata, a girl living with her father and stepmother after her biological mother, Chanda, left the family, is suffering from depression. Every day she suffers mental and physical abuses from her stepmother. Together with her longing for her true mother, this had led Cheata to slip deeper and deeper into depression. Holding on to her mother's photo and listening to her mother's lullaby every night does little to heal her heartache and depression.
