ขณะรบในสงครามกลางทะเลทราย แม่ทัพหนุ่ม หวังเซิง (เฉินคุน) ได้ช่วยเหลือสาวงามชื่อ เสี่ยวเวย (โจวซวิ่น) ไว้ แล้วพานางกลับมาที่บ้าน โดยไม่รู้ว่าแท้จริงแล้ว เสี่ยวเวยเป็นปีศาจจิ้งจอกพันปี ที่คอยหลอกมนุษย์ผู้ชายให้หลงรักแล้วควักหัวใจมากิน เพื่อคงความสาวของตนไว้ตลอดกาล
เสี่ยวเวยตกหลุมรักและซาบซึ้งในความดีของหวังเซิง แต่หวังเซิงมีภรรยาแล้ว คือ เพ่ยหลง (เจ้าเวย) เสี่ยวเวยที่ต้องการครอบครองหวังเซิง จึงใส่ร้ายเพ่ยหลงว่าเป็นปีศาจร้าย และทำให้ผิวของเพ่ยหลงกลายเป็นสีขาวซีด
ผู้ที่จะช่วยเพ่ยหลงได้ คือ ปั่งหยง (ดอนนี่ เยน) พี่ชายของหวังเซิง และมือปราบปีศาจ เซี๊ยะผิง (เบ็ตตี้ ซุน) ผู้มีดวงตาที่ 3 ที่มองเห็นร่างที่แท้จริงของนางปีศาจ ปั่งหยงและเซี๊ยะผิงจึงร่วมมือกัน หวังกำจัดเสี่ยวเวย
While fighting a war in the desert, Wang Sheng (Chen Kun), a general of Central Plains, saves a beauty Xiao Wei (Zhou Xun) and brings her home. He doesn't know her true identity - a thousand year fox spirit. In Chen Kun's house, Xiao Wei meets his wife Pei Rong (Zhao Wei).
In order to have Chen Kun to herself, not only does she mask her needs for a human heart daily to sustain her beauty, but also frames Pei Rong, accusing her of being a demon, forcing a pill down her throat, turning her pale white.
Xia Bing (Betty Sun), who possesses the special ability of third eye is able to tell Xiao Wei's true nature, but no one buys her story. In the process of rescuing Pei Rong, she runs into martial arts exponent Yong (Donnie Yen). The two join forces against the demons.

- The Clock - In the year of 1940, the song Gloomy Sunday was known as the suicide song as many suicides recorded were related to it. Listening to this song has led to a French lady committing suicide as well after the death of her boyfriend, a clock engineer at that time. Her soul was not at peace and it returned with the purpose of fulfilling the desires of other victims of depression. Cheata, a girl living with her father and stepmother after her biological mother, Chanda, left the family, is suffering from depression. Every day she suffers mental and physical abuses from her stepmother. Together with her longing for her true mother, this had led Cheata to slip deeper and deeper into depression.
