มีนากชี เดชปันเด (รานี มูเคอร์ชี) คือสาวรักอิสระชาวมาราธีผู้มีความสามารถเรื่องการดมกลิ่น เธอมาจากครอบครัวที่มีแต่สมาชิกนิสัยไม่เหมือนใคร ไม่ว่าจะเป็นคุณแม่ผู้เจ้ากี้เจ้าการเรื่องการแต่งงาน คุณพ่อที่สูบบุหรี่ทีละ 4 มวน หรือพี่ชายที่หมกมุ่นอยู่กับสุนัขตลอดเวลา เพื่อหนีความเบื่อหน่ายในโลกของความเป็นจริง มีนากชีจึงหันเข้าหาโลกแห่งจินตนาการเพ้อฝัน ที่เธอมีโอกาสเป็นนางเอกเรื่องนั้นเรื่องนี้ตามภาพยนตร์ที่เธอได้ชมมา

จนกระทั่งวันหนึ่ง มีนากชีเกิดติดใจกลิ่นของนักเรียนศิลปะหนุ่มชาวทมิฬ สุริยา (ปริธวิราช สุขุมาราน) ที่เธอพบโดยบังเอิญ จนกลายเป็นความรัก เธอเริ่มออกติดตามเขาไปทุกที่เพียงเพื่อจะได้กลิ่นของเขาและเก็บเอาไปฝัน ขณะเดียวกัน คุณแม่ของเธอก็ค้นพบ มาธาพ (สุโพธ พาเว) ผู้ชายคุณสมบัติเพียบพร้อมที่จะมาเป็นเจ้าบ่าวให้มีนากชี

It is the story about a Marathi girl with incredible ability to smell, Meenakshi Deshpande (Rani Mukerji) falling in love with a Tamil artist Surya (Prithviraj Sukumaran). Meenakshi, a librarian at a college, has 5 members in her middle class family: the blinded grandmother, the cigarette-obsessed father, the marriage-obsessed mother, and the dog-obsessed brother.

To escape from the craziness of her family, Rani lives her life in dreams in which the only thing she's doing is dancing and enacting her favorite actresses such as Sridevi, Juhi, etc. Or else, she spends times with Maina (Anita Date), her best friend, who is a dentally challenged big-mouthed freak and loves dressing up with Crime-Scene-Do-Not-Cross ribbons.

Meenakshi's family are looking for a suitable groom but Meenakshi, who doesn't believe in arranged marriages, is waiting for her prince and wants her dream wedding. That's when Southern art student Surya enters. The moment Meenakshi looks at him she falls in love with his tanned skin and body odour. But by this time her family have found the right guy Maadhav (Subodh Bhave) for her, and are rushing with her wedding.
