เรื่องราวของ จานีน (อแมนดา ไซฟริด) ผู้กำกับละครเวทีมากฝีมือที่ได้รับมอบหมายให้นำโอเปราเรื่อง ซาโลเม ผลงานอันเป็นตำนานของผู้ที่เป็นทั้งอาจารย์และอดีตคนรักของเธอกลับมาจัดแสดงอีกครั้ง แต่เมื่อเธอกลับเข้าสู่วงการละครเวทีหลังจากหายไปหลายปี ความทรงจำอันมืดมนสุดน่ากลัวจากอดีตก็เริ่มกลับมาหลอกหลอนเธอ จนทำให้บาดแผลทางจิตใจที่เธอเก็บซ่อนไว้ค่อยๆ เผยออกมา และอาจมีผลกระทบรุนแรงกับละครเวทีที่เธอกำลังรังสรรค์อยู่
Jeanine, an earnest theatre director, has been given the task of remounting her former mentor's most famous work, the opera Salome. Haunted by dark and disturbing memories from her past, she allows her repressed trauma to color the present as she re-enters the opera world after so many years away.
