Parzania is the breathtaking, untold story of a Parsi family caught in the crossfire of Hindu-Muslim riots. Cyrus (Naseeruddin Shah of Monsoon Wedding) and his family live in a middle class Muslim complex.

For Cyrus, who dotes on his lovely wife and two young children, fun and frolic are cultivated with as much zest as the values derived from their faith: honesty, hard work, and a cheerful disposition to the outside world. For ten-year-old Parzan, Parzania is an imaginary world where buildings are made of chocolate and mountains of ice cream.

In this universe comes Alan (Corin Nemec), a cynical, emotionally lost American who has come to India to find himself. Through the teachings of an old scholar and Cyrus' family, he starts to find peace of mind until events propel him into the path of communal violence. A fire erupts on a train killing fifty-eight Hindus, and within twenty-four hours, one hundred thousand Hindus storm Ahmedabad.

During the riots many families are pulled apart and Parzan vanishes. While Cyrus goes on a desperate search for his lost son, Alan battles to uncover the truth behind the senseless violence he has witnessed in the land of Gandhi.
