For three years Don Giuseppe Pino Puglisi (Luca Zingaretti) was the Parish of Brancaccio district of Palermo. He was murdered on his 56th birthday on September 15th,1993 by Mafia killers.

Don Puglisi fought actively the social environment where Mafia grows and flourishes. He founded and ran a Center for the children and the teenagers, giving them both an alternative to their native environment and a way to escape to Mafia enrollment.
