เรื่องราวของ แซ็ก (รัสเซล โครว์) เจ้าหน้าที่เอฟบีไอที่กำลังมีปัญหาทั้งด้านงานและครอบครัว ส่วนอีกฟากคือ ยูจิ (อีซึชิ โตโยกาวา) หัวหน้าแก็งค์ยากูซ่าในอเมริกาผู้เปี่ยมปัญญาและความโหดเหี้ยม เมื่อทั้งสองต้องยืนอยู่คนละด้านของกฎหมาย แต่ต้องโคจรมาพบกันเพื่อเอาชนะศัตรูที่แท้จริงของพวกเขา

When F.B.I. Agent Zack Grant's (Russell Crowe) partner is killed during a blown-up operation, he attempts to find the person responsible. Mafiaso Frank Serlano (Michael Lerner) believes Zack is responsible for his only sons death in the same operation and kidnaps Zacks son to hold as bait.

The action gets wild when airline stewardess Mary (Helen Slater) is taken hostage to add what seems an another insurmountable problem for Zack. There appears to be No Way Out.
