เจอร์รี แมกไกวร์ (ทอม ครูซ) ทำอาชีพเป็นตัวแทนนักกีฬา เขาจะทำทุกวิถีทางที่จะได้เซ็นสัญญากับลูกค้า โดยได้รับผลตอบแทนที่มากที่สุด แต่แล้ววันหนึ่ง เจอร์รี ฉุกคิดว่าสิ่งที่เขาทำอยู่นั้นถูกต้องแล้วหรือ เขาจึงเขียนเป้าหมายของการทำงานขึ้น โดยมุ่งมั่นที่จะใส่ใจลูกค้ามากขึ้น และเห็นแก่เงินน้อยลง ทว่าความตั้งใจดีนี้กลับทำให้ เจอร์รี ตกงาน

อย่างน้อย เจอร์รี ก็ยังเหลือลูกค้าอยู่หนึ่งคน นั่นคือ ร็อด ทิดเวลล์ (คิวบา กูดดิง จูเนียร์) นักฟุตบอลนิสัยเอาแต่ใจ และยังเหลือผู้ร่วมงานอีกหนึ่งคน นั่นคือ โดโรธี บอยด์ (เรเน เซลเวเกอร์) เลขานุการสาวที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากเป้าหมายการทำงานของ เจอร์รี อย่างเต็มเปี่ยม แล้ว เจอร์รี จะฟื้นตัวจากภาวะตกงาน โดยที่ยังคงซื่อสัตย์ต่อตัวเองไปด้วยได้หรือไม่

Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) used to be a typical sports agent: willing to do just about anything he could to get the biggest possible contracts for his clients, plus a nice commission for himself.

Then, one day, he suddenly has second thoughts about what he's really doing. So he produces a mission statement where he concludes that more personal attention is needed and less emphasis on the money. But He ends up losing his job.

At least, Jerry retains one client, Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding, Jr) an egomaniacal football player; and one staff Dorothy Boyd (Renee Zellweger), a secretary who read Jerry's mission statement and was inspired by it. Can Jerry resurrect his career while still staying true to himself?
