19-year-old gay Austrian fashion reporter Bruno (Sacha Baron Cohen), the self-proclaimed "voice of Austrian youth TV", is fired from his television show after disrupting a catwalk show during Milan Fashion week. He is suddenly a nobody.
Accompanied by his assistant's Lutz (Gustaf Hammarsten), who adores him, he travels to Los Angeles of the United States. Bruno's mission? To become the biggest Austrian celebrity since Hitler. His strategy? To crisscross the globe in the hopes of finding fame and love. And finally Bruno arrives... to make a lot of people angry.
