แม่มดชรา ซูรูลุนดา (พิลาร์ บาร์เดม) สั่งให้เจ้ามังกรน้อยจอมซุ่มซ่าม เฮกเตอร์ (ไมเคิล มิตเทอร์ไมเยอร์) ออกไปตามหาแม่มดคนใหม่ที่จะมารับช่วงการงานต่างๆ ต่อจากเธอ เฮกเตอร์ จึงออกเดินทางพร้อมสมุดมนตรา แล้วบินเข้าไปในห้องของเด็กหญิงตัวน้อย ลิลลี (อาลินา ฟรอนด์) เด็กหญิงตอบตกลงที่จะเป็นแม่มดคนใหม่ เธอจึงต้องพิสูจน์ตัวเองว่ามีคุณสมบัติเพียงพอหรือไม่ภายในเวลา 99 ชั่วโมง

ลิลลี จึงต้องรับมือกับ เฮียโรนีมัส (อินโก เนายอกส์) จอมชั่วร้าย ที่ต้องการขโมยสมุดมนตรา เพื่อนำไปใช้เป็นเครื่องมือในการยึดครองโลก เฮียโรนีมัส มีพลังสะกดจิต ซึ่งจะใช้ได้ผลเมื่อเขาหลอกให้เหยื่อมองเข้ามาในดวงตาของเขา และหนึ่งในเหยื่อผู้เคราะห์ร้ายเหล่านั้นก็คือคุณแม่ของ ลิลลี เอง

เหตุการณ์ยิ่งเลวร้ายหนักขึ้น เมื่อ ลิลลี พบว่าต้องรีบไปช่วยเจ้าน้องชายตัวแสบ ลีออน (ซามี เฮอร์ซอก) ที่ทะเล่อทะล่าพาตัวเองไปตกอยู่ในเงื้อมมือของพวกผู้ร้าย แล้วแม่มดมือใหม่อย่าง ลิลลี จะแก้ไขสถานการณ์ทั้งหมดได้หรือไม่

The old witch Surulunda (Pilar Bardem) orders little clumsy dragon Hector (Michael Mittermeier) to find a successor for her. Bringing along a magical book, Hector flies into the room of the young girl Lilly (Alina Freund). She agrees to be the new witch, and has to prove her fitness for the job during a probationary period of 99 hours.

Lilly then has to deal with evil Hieronymus (Ingo Naujoks) who wants to steal the book, which he wants to use to control the world. For this purpose he tricks people into looking into his eyes, so that he can hypnotize them. The victims, including Lilly's mother, start to behave oddly, and dress in grey.

And as if all of this is not enough, Lilly is forced to rush to the aid of her little brother Leon (Sami Herzog), who recklessly places himself directly in harm's way...
