New Iberia, Lt. Dave Robicheaux (Tommy Lee Jones) is trying to link the murder of a local hooker to New Orleans mobster Julie 'Baby Feet' Balboni (John Goodman), who is co-producer of a Civil War film.
Film-star Elrod Sykes (Peter Sarsgaard), pulled over for drunk driving, starts babbling about founding another corpse back in the Atchafalaya Swamp, presumably of a black man Robicheaux had seen being murdered 35 years before but didn't go to the police.
