หลังโรคร้ายพรากชีวิตภรรยาผู้เป็นที่รักไป ฟิลิปป์ (ฟรองซัวส์ กลูเซต์) ผู้รักความเสี่ยงก็หมกมุ่นอยู่กับกีฬาเสี่ยงอันตรายเพียงเพื่อที่จะได้เข้าใจความเจ็บปวดของภรรยา จนประสบอุบัติเหตุกลายเป็นคนพิการที่ขยับร่างกายไม่ได้ทั้งตัว
ฟิลิปป์ควานหาผู้ดูแลส่วนตัวคนแล้วคนเล่า จนได้พบกับ ดรีสส์ (โอมาร์ ซี) หนุ่มผิวสีข้างถนนที่ไม่มีอะไรเหมือนเขาสักนิดเดียว ท่ามกลางเสียงคัดค้านจากเพื่อนฝูง ฟิลิปป์ตกลงว่าจ้างดรีสส์ ผู้ที่ทำให้เขากลับไปผจญภัยได้อีกครั้ง และทำให้เห็นว่ามิตรภาพไม่มีเส้นแบ่งทางชนชั้นหรือเงินทอง
Philippe (Francois Cluzet) is a wealthy, physically disabled risk taker, who's overwhelmed by the death of his wife in an accident. But his world is turned upside down when he hires Driss (Omar Sy) a young, good-humored, black Muslim ex-con as his caretaker. Their bond proves the power and omniscience that love and friendship can hold over all social and economic differences.
