  • จอห์น (แชนนิง เททัม) นายทหารหนุ่มที่กลับมาจากสงครามเพื่อพักผ่อน แต่โชคชะตาฟ้าลิขิตทำให้เขารู้จักกับ ซาวันนาห์ (อแมนดา ไซฟริด) หญิงสาวผู้เปี่ยมไปด้วยจิตวิญญาณที่เป็นอิสระ ทั้งสองใช้เวลาที่ดูแสนสั้นร่วมกัน แต่รู้สึกเหมือนอยู่ด้วยกันมายาวนาน

    เมื่อจอห์นต้องเดินทางกลับไปรบ ซาวันนาห์ขอให้เขาและเธอยังคงได้เขียนจดหมายหากัน เพื่อทำให้เธอรู้สึกว่าเขายังคงอยู่เคียงข้างเธอ แม้ในยามที่ไม่ได้อยู่ข้างกายกัน เขารักษาสัญญาจนกลับมาหาเธออีกครั้ง แต่ด้วยภารกิจที่เขาต้องทำเพื่อรับใช้ชาติ ทำให้จอห์นต้องเลือกระหว่างหน้าที่อันยิ่งใหญ่กับผู้หญิงที่เขารัก

  • While John (Channing Tatum) is on leave in his hometown, he finds Savannah (Amanda Seyfried), a college student visiting the town. Although love was unexpected, it doesn't mean they didn't find it. With the knowledge of John having to leave for the army, their love still lives, until his re-signs on due to the 9/11 attack. Troubles invade and their love put on hold. One cannot bear it anymore; can the other?

- ผู้อำนวยการสร้าง มาร์ตี โบเวน ประทับใจนิยาย Dear John ของ นิโคลัส สปาร์ก ซึ่งเขาได้รับต้นฉบับมาก่อนที่จะถูกตีพิมพ์ จึงเริ่มสร้างภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้โดยติดต่อ แชนนิง เททัม มารับบท จอห์น และติดต่อ เจมี ลินเดน มาเขียนบทภาพยนตร์ ในตอนแรก เจมี ปฏิเสธเพราะไม่เคยดัดแปลงนิยายรักมาก่อน แต่เพราะติดใจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพ่อลูกในภาพยนตร์จึงเปลี่ยนใจกลับมารับงาน จากนั้นผู้สร้างก็ทาบทาม ลาสเซ ฮาลล์สตรอม เข้ามาเป็นผู้กำกับ

  • The Clock - In the year of 1940, the song Gloomy Sunday was known as the suicide song as many suicides recorded were related to it. Listening to this song has led to a French lady committing suicide as well after the death of her boyfriend, a clock engineer at that time. Her soul was not at peace and it returned with the purpose of fulfilling the desires of other victims of depression. Cheata, a girl living with her father and stepmother after her biological mother, Chanda, left the family, is suffering from depression. Every day she suffers mental and physical abuses from her stepmother. Together with her longing for her true mother, this had led Cheata to slip deeper and deeper into depression. Holding on to her mother's photo and listening to her mother's lullaby every night does little to heal her heartache and depression.
