1976. City of Madrid, Madrid (center to Spain and country's capital). On the early days of The Spanish Transition after General Franco's death happened the previous year, family Olmedo moves to the big city from their natal town hoping to get money and a better life for everyone. They are Manolo, a farmer hired to work in the well-known Pegaso's truck company; his wife and previous sister-in-law Candela, hired to work in the too well-known shopping mall Galerias Preciados; oldest son Pepe, a shy and stammer 20-years old young who feels as a stranger in the city unable to find job; older daughter Amparo, a 17 years-old teen forced to leave the town and her boyfriend Mateo to live in Madrid, who dreams to live in Paris working as flight attendant for Iberia's flying company; the child Rafael "Rafi", the only one son of Manolo and Candela after Candela's first husband (father of Pepe and Amparo) left them; a finally Fermin, Candela's aging and senile father with troubles of memory

- The Clock - In the year of 1940, the song Gloomy Sunday was known as the suicide song as many suicides recorded were related to it. Listening to this song has led to a French lady committing suicide as well after the death of her boyfriend, a clock engineer at that time. Her soul was not at peace and it returned with the purpose of fulfilling the desires of other victims of depression. Cheata, a girl living with her father and stepmother after her biological mother, Chanda, left the family, is suffering from depression. Every day she suffers mental and physical abuses from her stepmother. Together with her longing for her true mother, this had led Cheata to slip deeper and deeper into depression. Holding on to her mother's photo and listening to her mother's lullaby every night does little to heal her heartache and depression.
